At Mālama Hāmākua Maui, community is at the heart of everything we do. From monthly Kōkua Days to cultural workshops, field trips, and restoration projects, we bring people together to mālama the Hamakualoa Open Space Preserve and surrounding areas. Our work is guided by local voices—lineal descendants, neighbors, cultural practitioners, and volunteers—ensuring stewardship is both rooted in place and open to all.
We welcome connections and invite you to contact us to share your ideas, feedback, and support. We work closely with the County of Maui and our neighbors, and as planning evolves, we want your input to help guide the future of this land. This open space was made possible because the community rallied to purchase it and protect it for future generations. Now, we hope our community will continue to shape and strengthen its role as a cultural, ecological, and gathering place for all.
